“One of the most surprising films of Cannes’ Un Certain Regard” What the Hollywood Reporter Roma, wrote.
Read more in below:
“It is the paradoxical, Kafkaesque everyday life of Terrestrial Verses by the Iranians Alireza Khatami and Ali Asgari, one of the most surprising films of Cannes’ Un Certain Regard: a feature film constructed through eleven short episodes of daily life in Tehran, which lines up with a of black humor snapshots of real abuses carried out by the regime of the ayatollahs on citizens – from birth to the last day of life. Shot indoors – the camera fixed on the protagonist, the interlocutor’s voiceover – Terrestrial Verses arrived in Cannes without the permission of the authorities: behind the camera are Khatami, an Iranian resident in Toronto, and Asgari who, after studying in Italy, in Rome, returned to Iran three years ago.”
