Paris- and Berlin-based international sales company Salaud Morisset has acquired worldwide sales rights to A Bit of Light, the latest feature from Iranian filmmaker Ali Asgari. The announcement comes ahead of the film’s world premiere in the Main Competition of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
Deadline reported that Salaud Morisset will represent the film internationally, continuing its long-standing collaboration with Asgari across several of his acclaimed short and feature films.
Set in contemporary Iran, A Bit of Light follows a disillusioned doctor whose medical practice is closed after his arrest. Having lost faith in the future, he decides to end his life and spends what he believes will be his final day visiting his siblings and mother. Through their companionship, compassion and quiet gestures of care, he gradually begins to reconsider his decision.
The selection marks Ali Asgari’s first appearance in the Venice Film Festival’s Main Competition. His previous films include Disappearance, Until Tomorrow, Terrestrial Verses, Higher Than Acidic Clouds and Divine Comedy. Across his work, Asgari has explored the social, political and institutional pressures shaping everyday life in contemporary Iran.
Led by Seven Springs Pictures, A Bit of Light is an international co-production between Iran, Switzerland, Italy, Canada and Türkiye. The film stars Misagh Zareh, Sadaf Asgari, Forouzan Jamshidnejad, Ramtin Daghigh and Mina Rahimzadeh.
The film’s entry into the Venezia 83 Main Competition, together with Salaud Morisset’s worldwide sales representation, marks an important new chapter in the international journey of A Bit of Light and in Seven Springs Pictures’ continuing collaboration with Ali Asgari.
